Training to tune in and listen

Without a doubt, the idea of an “internal compass” is spiritual for me. I see myself as a spiritual person, as well has being physical. Remaining connected spiritually is what keeps me grounded.
It takes training to tune into that internal compass. There will always be a fork in the road and the option of going against one’s beliefs and convictions.
As public safety professionals, we train for everything else, so I think it’s also important for us to train ourselves to tune in and listen to that sense of direction that comes from our core values and sense of what is right and wrong.
I’m not perfect, and when I go against my conscience that “still, small voice” gets louder, and I have to take some time recalibrate and get back on track.
